Well, the site ran quite nicely for 4 weeks on Ubuntu Hardy 64-bit and then it just hung for no apparent reason. Corrupted some aspects of MySQL on the way down too. But it's FAR more stable than the 32-bit Turnkey appliance. As nice as that appliance was for dev, it's not a production-ready implementation.

We are attempting 64 bit Ubuntu Hardy on vSphere...there had been some problems getting the LAMP stack running but otherwise has been up for 15 days without a crash...mind you it isn't doing anything at present....there is some problem with throughput at present, but I am thinking that has to do more with the Virtual Nic than the OS.

Well said! Kind of makes me want to apply for a job with you.

I really could hear "Pomp and Ceremony" playing in the background (like in the "I Am Canadian" beer commercial).

No kidding, folks. Being a video game expert doesn't qualify you for an IT job, but if you know how to research game cheats you *might* be resourceful enough to work in a system admin role - you just need to apply your resourcefulness to something in the real world to prove it. It can be just as much fun.
